home at last

Actually we've been back a few days, but are still settling in. Peter's getting over his jet lagged and unpacked. Here's a happy picture from the first night home:

The Colonel has landed!

Peter is close to getting home--going through out-processing right now. We're having a week of reunions with kids coming and going depending on their class schedules. Such a wonderful time for all of us!

How many days left?

There are 42 days left of hubby’s orders, but we’re counting down the days until Peter is stateside. Of course, we don’t know for sure when that will be…

I can tell we’re getting close though because:

1. I’ve been cleaning.
2. I’ve been cooking.
3. I've been compulsively checking my emails.

Up until now, all in all, it seemed the last year had gone by fairly quickly. Now time is going so slow!

49 days of deployment left: surprise videos

Have you seen the youtube videos where a soldier-dad jumps out of a box? Or the one where a husband surprises his wife at a baseball game, home earlier than she'd thought?

Even though I don't really like surprises, in general, I'd be thrilled with one of those. We're just weeks away until Peter starts traveling home...

Day 54: funny cards

We have a friend who has sent Peter funny cards through this whole deployment. They make him laugh when he gets them--and then again when he shows me over Skype. Isn't that great? And so simple. I love those little things that make a big difference.

Less that fifty-four days until this deployment is over--much, much fewer until Peter starts home!
